How-To

Some of the questions that comes up again and again are:

- where can I find a trustworthy contractor?
- where can I find a trustworthy handyman?
- how do I fix this or that?
- how do I plan a vacation on a limited budget?
- how much insurance do I need?

Finding A Contractor

www.servicemaster.com -- provides consummers with referrals to prequalified (reference check, insurance check, credit check, licence check) contractors for each specific service need.

An example of what you will find at Servicemaster is:

This is the site for Pro Home & Office Improvement, which is run by Mark A Schwarz.  Mark is also a  single-parent.

Finding A Handyman / Carpenter / Contractor for Smaller Jobs

You should always interview and screen any contractors before making a decision on who to hire.  You should also make sure that you have the work to be done and the price in writing before beginning any projects.  Individuals on this list are recommended by website participants, but that is  not a guarantee of future performance, i.e. do your homework, ask questions and get it in writing before the project starts.

Thanks very much to Lynn Hall (Capital Area PWP member) for putting the list together.
