Mediation

If mediation will work for you, its usually much less expensive and less painful overall.  Here are a few local resources for mediation

Raleigh/Cary/Durham/Chapel-Hill

Carolina Collaborative Law Group (or Separating Together) -- contact there is Mark Springfield. They offer a mediation approach to divorce as opposed to litigation.  The couple must agree that they will not go to court. Each will have their own attorney at the firm, as well as the services of child psychologists and financial experts. This approach is not the right approach for some cases.

Vara Bell -- mediator -- you can reach her via e-mail at vbell@whitememorial.org.

Wake County Custody and Mediation Program -- located in the Wake County Courthouse.  You can reach them by calling 919-835-3399 [hit #6 when the message starts]

Carolina Dispute Settlement Services -- http://www.notrials.com/index.htm

Mediation Inc. -- http://www.mediationincnc.com/index.html -- law firm composed of certified mediators.
